NEW HAVEN

K-8 Afterschool & Camp Programming

AFTERSCHOOL: 2:30-6:00 PM
SUMMER CAMP: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, WITH EXTENTED HOURS  4:00-5:30 PM

iOur afterschool program is based at our Columbus Clubhouse (253 Columbus Ave, New Haven). Located in the heart of the Hill neighborhood, the Clubhouse is a second home to children and teens from across New Haven. Generations of families have counted on us to inspire their kids to be the very best they can be – in a safe and nurturing place.

Buses run directly from most New Haven Public Schools to the Club. The Club is open until 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Our impact extends way beyond our Columbus Avenue home with afterschool programs in certain New Haven Public Schools. In the 2023-24 academic year, these sites were at Bishop Woods and Brennan-Rogers.  (Please note school site locations are subject to change each year.)

On scheduled school holidays, we offer full day programming at our Columbus Clubhouse!  Separate enrollment is required.  Please note that on half-days, programming is only available at the Columbus Clubhouse; New Haven school sites do not offer programming on half days.

Tween Programming (Middle School)

MIDDLE SCHOOL-ONLY NIGHTS:   6:00-8:00 PM (Thursdays only)

Middle School Nights are open to 6th through 8th graders on Thursday evenings from September through June at our Columbus Clubhouse (253 Columbus Ave, New Haven). The Clubhouse is a second home to children and teens from across New Haven.  Middle School Nights are a chance for middle schoolers to build connections with other middle schoolers while engaging in fun activities led by adult mentors and staff.

Teen Programming (High School)

KEYSTONE CLUB: 6:00-8:00 PM (Tuesdays only)
TEEN NIGHTS: 6:00-8:00 PM (Fridays only, Must present High School ID)

Our teen programs are designed specifically for high school students from September through June at our Columbus Clubhouse (253 Columbus Ave, New Haven). The Clubhouse is a second home to children and teens from across New Haven.

Keystone Club is a BGCA program designed specifically for high school students to develop leadership skills while connecting with other local high schoolers.  Keystone Club supports high schoolers in developing skills needed in the workplace, creating resumes, practicing interviewing, and supporting academic success. A portion of the program is dedicated to exploring life after high school, including how to apply to college and trade schools, and how to apply for financial aid.

Teen Nights are open to high schoolers from September through June. During this program high schoolers have an opportunity to enjoy the Clubhouse’s many benefits from playing sports and games in the gym to using our virtual video game system, Exergames.

Sports & Recreation

We offer many sports at our Columbus Clubhouse (253 Columbus Ave, New Haven).

Biddy basketball is offered during the Fall and is the perfect environment for youth to build basketball skills.  Each player practices one time a week (Monday through Wednesday), and plays games on Thursdays.  Practices and games are held after 6:00pm.

Travel/AAU basketball is offered from Winter through Summer to middle school and high school players.  Each team practices at least twice a week in the evenings and/or weekends.  Tryouts for next year’s teams will be announced in early 2025.
